Betting markets for the Monday night matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves indicate an expectation of high scoring. The over/under line for the game is set at 231.5 points, with the Cavaliers listed as a 5.5-point favorite. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every NBA game 10,000 times, projects a combined total of 236 points for the contest. The model advises taking the Over on the total, a pick it claims hits 56% of the time in this specific simulation. The model also indicates that one side of the point spread hits over 60% of the time in its simulations, though it does not specify which team that side favors in the public summary.
This prediction follows a strong recent trend for the Over in this series. The total has gone over in each of the last four head-to-head meetings between Cleveland and Minnesota. The Over has also hit in five of the last eight games for the Timberwolves and seven of the last ten for the Cavaliers.
The Timberwolves enter the game with a 3-0 record, having defeated the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday. The team is 2-0 on the road this season. Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable due to knee injury management. In his three starts this season, Edwards averages 28.7 points, five rebounds, 3.3 assists, and two steals in 31.3 minutes per game. Six other Minnesota players average at least 12 points.
The Cavaliers hold a 1-1 record and won their first home game of the season on Saturday, defeating the Brooklyn Nets 125-121. Donovan Mitchell has led the Cleveland offense, averaging 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block in 35.5 minutes over two starts.
The SportsLine model has returned nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated NBA picks since 2018. It has recorded five straight seasons of four-digit profit and is 26-10 on top-rated spread picks dating back to the previous season. The model’s current record for the 2026-27 season is 26-10 on those specific top-rated selections.
