Taco Sano will close its Missoula doors on Friday, October 30.
The restaurant’s final day of business comes weeks after another local taco shop announced it was shutting down. Taco Del Sol, which operated for nearly 30 years, told The Missoulian on October 9 that it was time to leave the downtown area. Founder Dave Beaton noted that small restaurants rarely last that long and that they knew their time had come.
Taco Sano explained its decision through its Instagram page. The building has faced repeated threats of demolition over the last few years. While the owners received a new lease offer, they decided against signing it. They cited unpredictable food costs and common area maintenance fees as factors that made staying in the location financially difficult.
The closure leaves local diners with one fewer option for tacos in the city. Both restaurants were well-known spots, and their departures mark a shift in the local dining scene. Taco Sano’s closing date is set for the end of this month.
The final service will take place on October 30. Customers who wish to visit the restaurant before it shuts down have until that day to do so. The location will stop serving food and drinks after Friday’s close.
